March 20, 2012 Meeting

Our special guest speaker at our March meeting will be Tamara Jolee, videojournalist and sports co-anchor at both Today’s Channel 6 News (KIVI-TV) and Fox 9 News (KNIN-TV).
Tamara will be talking with us about how to write succinctly (since writing TV news scripts and writing screenplays are very much alike!), how to conduct effective interviews (for your screenplay research), and a little about her own broadcasting career.
Tamara is a multi-award winning news and sports journalist from Dallas, Texas. She’s covered everything from Super Bowl XLV, the Texas Rangers World Series run, International Film Festivals and movie premieres. In May 2011, she arrived in Joplin, Missouri, just days after the tornado, and covered stories of people who lost lives and homes.
Prior to Dallas, Tamara hosted a regionally-syndicated sports program that aired across Texas and Louisiana in a dozen markets on FOX affiliates, reaching an audience of 25-million viewers! She also followed the 2010 New Orleans Saints Super Bowl winning season.
While Tamara has a passion for sports, her first priority is news -- and she’s been awarded by the Texas AP Broadcasters for anchoring and reporting. She covered the 2008 Presidential Elections and landed interviews with former President Clinton, First Lady Michelle Obama and Arizona Senator John McCain. In addition, Tamara broke the story of a major child sex ring that made headlines around the world.
Make sure you join us for Tamara’s very informative and fascinating talk!
